Tacoma Holiday Fest: Peach Bourbon BBQ Sauce Demo

I can officially add “Food Demonstrator” to my resume!

If you scroll through Bates Technical College Video Production Live Streams on YouTube, you’ll see Tacoma Holiday Food & Gift Festival cooking shows dating back to 2018.

In those videos, you’ll catch sight of me asking questions from the audience, and volunteering to go up on stage to help with cheese-making.

But this year, I made my debut as a presenter!

I of course took the opportunity to shout the praises of my favorite local eateries/recipe contributors.

This one is quite a bit longer than my typical 2 minute & 53 second video. So here’s a cheat sheet if you want to skip to those moments in the video:

Video actually begins @ 1 minute in. Then…
2:42 I admit that I am not a chef, right before “CHEF KRIS HAY” appears onscreen. LOL
3:15 Over the Moon (OTM) & Devil’s Reef [Origin story]
4:30 Chef Thad Lyman (Brix 25°, Brimstone PNW Smokehouse, NetShed No. 9, Iscreamery)
5:35 Remlinger Farms Peaches
5:45 Chambers Bay Distillery (CBD) Bourbon [I admit that Jackie & I sampled the bourbon]
6:05 Marlene’s Market & Deli
6:25 Netshed’s Hell Yeah Hot Sauce
10:40 Chambers Bay Distillery Bourbon
16:25 Hell Yeah Hot Sauce
17:45 Spaceworks Tacoma
18:10 Stocklist Goods
19:30/20:45 knife talk/Tacoma Knife
22:20 Primo Grill
22:30 Asado Cucina Argentina
28:20 Chef Thad
29:30 OTM
30:30 Stocklist Goods
33:30 Chef Thad
36:00 Tibbitts@FernHill
36:10 en Rama

A bunnnch of shout outs didn’t make it in to the recording because they happened prior to the official start and then I failed to repeat them. Or I got distracted mid-sentence. Alas.

Thanks again to Bates — just like me, this was an opportunity for their students to practice and learn.

Thanks to Renewal Remodels for providing a kitchen stage that helped me feel like I was on the Food Network. 😊

(Man, oh man do I need to get Renewal in to remodel my kitchen and bathrooms. As I mention in the video about my knives, what I have is mostly functional, but definitely not fancy or up-to-date. I have both knife dreams and kitchen dreams. )

Thanks to the audience, and to all of you who were cheering me on from afar.

And lastly but not leastly, thanks to the fabulous Jackie Casella whose easy-going conversational style of hosting makes for a terrific on-stage experience.

All y’all within easy distance of the Dome, head over to the cooking stage to catch the demos. I’ll be in the front row, whooting for the REAL chefs!

Cheers!
Kris
