Sustainable Tacoma Aroma Flavor

The 2020 South Sound Sustainability Expo has been postponed, alas. I’m sorry to miss this opportunity to meet you in person to talk about farm-to-table food. But Earth Day is Every Day, right? So here are a couple of activities to help you celebrate Fresh, Local, Organic, Seasonal, Sustainable food systems…

First up is a prize-drawing of flavorful goodies from local producers, valued at over $100, including:

Spicy condiments from Gig Harbor’s famous family of restaurants: Brix 25°, Brimstone PNW Smokehouse, and NetShed No. 9—where you can purchase your next bottle or jar of spicy goodness along with your meal.

The Tacoma Pierce County Health Department has stated that dining out is safe during the COVID-19 outbreak so why not go for the trifecta? Netshed for breakfast, Brimstone for lunch, and Brix for dinner! (They’re offering meals to go.)

Mixed-berry preserves…grown, harvested, and canned by Share the Wealth Organics urban Tacoma farm—currently accepting Shareholders for the 2020 season.

Jan Parker Cookery uses fresh produce from Share the Wealth in her fabulous Filipino food. Look for Jan at the Proctor Farmers’ Market and the Tacoma Farmers’ Market to sample some of STW’s “designer greens,” as Jan calls them.

Hearty, healthy, premium oatmeal and overnight oats are mixed and packaged in Tacoma by Anchor Oats. Included in the basket are a package of Banana Peanut Butter Overnight Oats and a gift set with Chocolate Expresso Overnight Oats.

Find Anchor Oats at Stocklist Goods on Pacific Avenue and at the Delightful Neighborhood Market on North 45th.

Anchor Oats is offering a 15% discount. Use the code SPCWRKS. Spaceworks alums are trying to drum up business during the COVID downturn. Check out the list of other local micro-businesses to see what they’re offering!

Award-winning raw honey from bees in the 253 goes in to Honeys Healthy Hive edibles and body products, including this honey, elderberry syrup, and lotion bar!

Shawn Tibbitts uses this local honey at Tibbitts@Fernhill. Happy Belly Restaurant sells a selection of Honey’s Healthy Hive products.

Honey’s Healthy Hive is offering $2 off orders of $20 or more through May 1. Use the code TacomaAromaFlavor. (I’m not benefiting from the promotion. She just gave me something I could remember. LOL!)

Last but not least, Tacoma Aroma Flavor is offering a selection of colorful Tacoma Spoonscape vinyl stickers + a $25.30 (253!) gift certificate to your choice of a Tacoma Aroma Flavor Cookbook/Dining Guide recipe contributor.

I’ll soon be selling my Tacoma Spoonscape baseball tees. Follow me on IG or FB for first notice. For free delivery, use the code TacomaSpirit.

Enter to win the basket!

Then, for the kids—or for anyone who enjoys a good word search, we have a selection of options. Download and give ’em a try!
